Miracle is not what is required

Every time I step on my homeland, it calls out to me. I can hear it scream with agony and pain. It calls to me for help. It wants to be saved from the werewolves that are chewing it to bits. It wants to be free from the label of ‘terrorism’. It wants its freedom, the freedom that it deserves; the freedom from which it has deprived from since the past sixty years.
This pain and agony of my land keeps me in a state of restlessness and agitation. The screams hurt my ears; I want this to end. This country needs a revival; a revolution. Waiting for a miracle is not what is required. No messiah or Khomeini is required for this change. It is we, the youth, that can bring humongous changes but alas, we’re not even unaware of our potentials.
A revolution in mindsets is essential. This can be done on individual level; each person in this nation needs to change the level and patterns of thinking. If every person here starts accepting what he/she deserves and works honestly, undoubtedly this crowd of people will be transformed into a nation. What we need to understand is that nothing is small; no change is small; no action is minute; as someone quotes, “If you think small is insignificant, try sleeping with a mosquito in your bed.”
The social and cultural values are declining day by day. Youth is becoming Americanized and westernized. It is necessary to understand that if we’re unable to understand and follow our own morals, values and culture we’ll have no identity. We’ll neither be a part of their nation nor pure Pakistanis. Economy has to be built up and for that we need to work very hard.
A revolution is on its way; I can smell it in the air; I can feel it. My soul is emerged into this country and I’m optimistic about its future and revival. I have dreamt of my country being a heaven on earth, when there is no bloodshed; no injustices.
Pakistan is calling to all of us for its revival; socially, culturally, economically. Let’s hear this; let’s wake up to this call; let’s start doing something. It is time we realized what this country needs and what potential we have to make things better and then ultimately near to perfect.
